Wray B. Gunn's Obituary
Wray Bowling Gunn, 70, passed away June 26, 2017. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1964 and attended Memphis State University from 1964-1966. Wray was a crew chief for UH 1 Huey helicopters. He served in the 163rd Avn. Co, 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam from 1969-1970. He held an FAA private pilot’s license and A & P mechanic’s license. Wray was employed by Signature Flight Support Maintenance until 2007. He also played with several local Memphis bands. Wray was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Clara Gunn; 3 brothers, Daniel Gunn, William Gunn, and Robert Gunn. He is survived by 2 brothers, John Gunn of Jonesboro, AR and Charles Gunn of Corpus Christi, TX along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm Friday June 30 followed by funeral services at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.”The obituary and service information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
