It is with great sadness that we received word of Mac’s passing. Ann & I were fortunate to spend a few hours with him in Kirksville a few years ago. From that visit we heard “you were the best thing that happened to him” to quote his words. Quite a complement I’d say! I’m sure you know that he is in good hands now in heaven. We of course would like to be with you in this time and are with you in our thoughts and prayers. The things that don’t go away are the good memories that we all have with each other–best friends forever. Jill, we are always ready to have you as our guest when you get around St. Charles. We are still talking about our visit in February–must do more of that! God bless Mac & you in the times ahead.Love, Carter & Ann Freeman
To Jill and Family,I can say nothing about Mac that you don’t already know. He was a very special, unique character who left an indelible impression on everyone he met. That was certainly true for me. At today’s Rotary meeting everyone who knew Mac was remembering favorite anecdotes about about him. Our hearts and prayers go out to you in this difficult time. Take care and know that Kirksville is thinking about you.Michael McManis
It wasn’t long ago Mac sent a note recalling the evening he was in the audience on the Adair County Courthouse lawn to hear the Senior Songsters sing. It seems to me he had just moved to Kirksville and perhaps Jim & I had met him at a Chamber of Commerce event. When he and I visited, following the concert, he told me he enjoyed singing and from that day forward he and Jill were welcome members of the Senior Songsters. How we did love you both. In addition to the music we made together there are many happy memories of great times at the Cottage Grove Bed & Breakfast. I treasure hand written notes with wonderful recipes from Mac.Jill I knew you to be a strong person. I pray for that strength to carry you through this time of grieving.Jan Edwards

What a sweet, wonderful man. I’ll never forget all the kindness Mac showed over the years toward my mother, Jan Delasara and my husband, Chuck Dunaway. You will be greatly missed Mac. Love to Jill and family. Our deepest sympathies.

You’re in my thoughts, my heart, and my prayers, dearest friend Jill. God Bless.
Mac McCord knew no strangers. He could light up a room just by entering the room, telling a joke the entire way! I love the way he and Jill had of making you feel like part of the family. They were like family! My heart hurts for Jill and all of your family, but I am comforted by the memories I hold dear of Mac, Jill, apple pie contests, and Cottage Grove B & B gatherings. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I will sing “I Can Only Imagine” for Mac tonight as I am sure they are having fun with Mac in heaven. Love you!Julie & Andrew Mikolajczak
Mac and Jill were a wonderful addition to our church and community when they moved here to run the Cottage Grove Bed and Breakfast. We remember meeting them when they first came to a Youth Dinner Theatre at our church. Steve and I became good friends with Mac and Jill and continue to treasure the memories we have of knowing them and also remember when they hosted fellowship events at their home for the Empty Nesters and the 50 Luncheon. They were leaders in the community and modeled their strong Christian witness. Steve still has the Cross in the Pocket that Mac gave him. We remember the stories that Mac told and programs he and Jill gave for the 50 Luncheon. They were always willing to give their all. Jill, we will be praying for you and your family. Love and Blessing to you, Jill, Steve and Marla Gramling
