Virginia Pretti's Obituary
Virginia Pretti, whose name will be recognized by many as the first lay principal of St. Agnes Academy and the Lower School Principal of St. Mary’s Episcopal School for Girls, died January 2, 2015. She was the daughter of Italian immigrants, Rose and Saule (Si) Pretti. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Pretti, her sister, Velma Pretti Carter, and her nephews, Chuck Carter and Steve Pretti. She is survived by aunt, Emma Farris, her nieces and nephews David Carter, Terri Chenault (David), Roseanne Giaroli, Loreleigh Webb (Jerry), and Michelle Dotter (Tom). Virginia will be remembered by those whose lives she touched, especially her great nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law, June Pretti, other family members and lifelong friends, Sister Mary Brigid Gregory, O.P., Snookie Mason, and Shirley Flint.The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, January 5 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass begins at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. **In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to animal shelter groups.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to animal shelter groups.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
