With great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Virginia Hammontree Kinard, who peacefully left us on October 6, 2025 at the age of 81. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 17, 1943, she lived a long and blessed life. Read Obituary
We just learned today of Virginia’s passing. Virginia lived in our neighborhood. She was a delight to talk to and we loved all of her dogs that she walked daily more than once. I was particularly fond of Chance and Magnolia. We are so sorry for your loss. And we are saddened by the loss of a very “good neighbor”. May the Lord comfort you in your sorrow.
One of the things that Virginia loved doing more than anything, was sharing her therapy dogs with others. She was a valuable member of MidSouth Therapy Dogs & Friends and had several therapy dogs over the years. My therapy dog and I made many visits with Virginia and one of hers and it was always a pleasure to see how people were drawn to one of her lovely Goldens. They brought comfort and joy to people wherever they were. I miss making those visits with her and cherish the memories we made together.
Virginia was an integral member of MidSouth Therapy Dogs. She was a team member with her Westie, Millie, and her two Golden Retrievers, Charm and Chance! She and her dogs made a huge difference in the lives of the folks they visited. She was also an evaluator and assistant for the new and upcoming teams of MSTD.
I miss her so much and am so proud of the work she did with two of the dogs I bred for therapy work!! Chance and Charm!!!!
