Travis Johnson's Obituary
Travis Dwyane Johnson, 73, died Sunday, August 20, 2017, after battling ongoing health illness. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Wanda Johnson, of Cordova, TN; his son, Greg Johnson of Lakeland, TN; four grandchildren, Derek, Taylor, Hudson, and Harrison; one great grandson, Landon Johnson; one sister, Brenda Crawford of West Memphis, AR; one brother, James Johnson of Mayfield, KY; countless nieces and nephew.He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Johnson; his mother, Ada Johnson; his father, R.V. Johnson; and four brothers, Eugene, Darryl, Hoyt, and R.B. Johnson. Travis began his career in 1967 at Holiday Inn. He served as the Vice President and Manager of the Inn Keepers Division, then known as the Motel Salvage Division. In 1990, Travis opened Hotel Sales and Surplus, a company that would provide for his family for many years to follow. He retired in 2001, leaving his two sons, Kevin and Greg Johnson, in charge of continuing to run the very successful business he had built.Travis followed and practiced the Pentecostal faith. He loved his family more than anything, and he will be missed by so many.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 12:00 pm until service time at 1 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery on Germantown Road in Bartlett. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.”
