Teresa Gurley Greene Seal's Obituary
TERESA GURLEY GREENE SEAL passed away September 28, 2015 in Cincinnati, Ohio after a year long battle with lung cancer. She was born in Houston, Mississippi on May 4, 1945 to John W. Gurley and W. Cormine Gurley. She is survived by her children, Scott Allen Greene (Rhea) and Robert Sean Greene (Torrie). She leaves 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth Bailey Greene, Alexandra Reagan Greene, Robert Seth Greene, Sean Austin Greene and Jackson Zimmer Greene, one sister, Sharon Gurley Monaghan and one brother, John W. Gurley, Jr. (Debbie), one niece, Amanda Cormine Gentry, three nephews, Brian Morgan Monaghan(Melissa), Reid Sutton Monaghan(Kasey), and Enoch Andrew Gentry, Jr. (Nikki), four great nieces, Kayla Joy Monaghan, Kylene Jordan Monaghan, Callia Grace Gentry, Sadie Isabella Gentry and two great nephews, Thomas Reid Monaghan and Rowan Gerard Gentry. She was predeceased by her parents John W. Gurley and W. Cormine Gurley, her oldest son, Joseph Lynn Greene, Jr. and her youngest sister, Camille Gurley Gentry(Enoch). Teresa, or T, as known to her friends and family, was a long time Memphian, graduating from South Side High School in 1963. She studied business at Christian Brothers College and began her career on President’s Island working for Arrow Trailers and eventually went on to work at FED EX, where she was a successful and proud employee for 17 years. Teresa was beloved by all and never met a stranger. She was a world traveler frequently visiting countries like Europe, Australia, and several in Asia just to name a few. Teresa maintained two homes, one in Memphis, another in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. She was a gourmet chef, the life of a party, and loved living downtown with friends and neighbors. Also known as GMA by her Grandchildren and their friends, she enjoyed sharing stories with them and taking them to see broadway shows at the Orpheum and Theater Memphis. She was gracious and always kind to others. Her contagious laugh and smile will always be cherished. Memorial services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., on Saturday, October 3, 2015 with visitation starting at 1:30 p. m. and a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Flowers are welcome. Family requests any memorial donations be sent to the American Lung Association.
