As we read these remembrances of Teresa, we see a common theme; that having Teresa in your life was like having an extended family. This lady had a gift for bringing happiness and joy into every interaction. She cared for me like a blood relation. When I moved to Memphis, she brought me into her home and helped me settle into a new city. There was an open invitation to be a part of every festivity she planned, and there were many. She made Memphis a home for me. She was a confidant and adviser, a faithful and caring elder. When I married in 2001, she traveled all the way to Brazil to be a part of the occasion. I think the Brazilians must still remember this whirlwind of an American, one of our great ambassadors. I have included a photo here. Teresa was a charismatic character and I will forever cherish her warmth and loving virtue. I am forever connected to her.
I remember her family moving to Memphis when Teresa was in junior high school. I became very close to her and her family and became known as ‘Uncle Buddy’. Also remember teaching Teresa the old Memphis Bop in her living room and being on Dance Party together. We remained friends for all these years. Teresa was a wild and crazy girl who loved a good time. She will certainly be missed. My sincere sympathy to her entire family.Buddy Durham
I remember the day we met Teresa. After looking at our new condo on Front St. Bill and I had a few hours to kill before we caught the train back home so we decided to look around the neighborhood. We visited a store down on Main St where Teresa happened to be and we sort of just introduced ourselves to each other. She graciously offered to take us up to her place so we could get an idea of what a finished unit would look like and we became fast friends from that day forward. There was never a time that we didn’t feel like Teresa was a family member to us and we will always remember her many, many kindnesses to us. Her open, loving heart in all she did and said was an inspiration and we will never forget her………………
Every memory I have with Teresa brings a smile to my face, some of my favorite memories are spending time with her and FA, I already miss her, love and peace to the family…. Connie
