It truly was his motivating factor in life, both personally and professionally. Doc felt God’s purpose for him was that he provided him with an exceptional skillset as a surgeon to provide outstanding patient care and he delivered that purpose up until the end. Doc also loved how Christ provided (so freely) forgiveness and mercy to everyone.* Family – Family was everything; Whether it was a birthday party, a holiday gathering (Christmas morning was his favorite – ‘he loved being called Clark Griswold’ – never for him personally, yet watching other family members, especially the anticipated excitement of his kids and grandkids – and yes, if you were thinking he was that guy videotaping Christmas morning in VHS back in the 80s and 90s you would be correct), Tailgating in the “Grove”, Binge Watching Netflix with Linda (especially House of Cards), Sporting Events, Sunday Brunch, Beach Trips to FL or his newfound love Sea Island, GA* Friends – Doc loved hangin’ with friends. Whether at Hope Church (as a greeter at Entrance #2), Baptist (Loved His Team – Room #8) and Methodist Hospitals, Spring Creek Ranch (All of the Staff, his “Golf Group”, the 19th Hole), Ole Miss, Fox News, Grilling, Beachin’ It, Listening to Elvis or Jimmy Buffett, Enjoying a cold drink – “it’s 5 o’clock here!”, – Doc loved everyone* Doc loved the U.S.A., our military, Veterans’ like his daddy, and our Flag – Though medicine was his Calling/Purpose in life, Doc always had a passion and spot in his heart for military personnel, those currently serving, Veterans, and especially those that paid the ultimate price for our freedom!Visitation will be on Good Friday at Hope Church (South Hall, 8500 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, TN) from 12:00pm – 2:00pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00pmIn Lieu of Flowers, please donate to the Memphis Church Health Center ( churchhealth.org/give ) or The Wounded Warriors Project ( www.woundedwarriorproject.org )
