Russell "Rusty" Jackson Rainey's Obituary
Russell Jackson Rainey (Rusty), 54, passed away June 14, 2021 at home, succumbing to pancreatic cancer. Rusty was born on April 08, 1967, in Memphis, TN. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Rainey (the former Adair Hogue) also of Memphis.
Rusty was a graduate of Harding High School and attended the University of Memphis. He was a gifted musician, guitar teacher, singer, and luthier. He played with dozens of Memphis bands over three decades, most notably Cryin’ Shame. He was a devoted son, loving brother and dedicated uncle. He had a passion for music and was a devotee of Johnny Cash.
In addition to his parents, Rusty is survived by his sister Jessica Rainey McKnett (Chris), and nephew Charlie. Memorials may be made to the Church Health Center.
