Ronald "Steve" Stephen Chandler, Sr.'s Obituary
Ronald Stephen “Steve” Chandler, Sr., age 71, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away at home on June 24, 2024. Steve was born February 1, 1953, in Dyer County, Tennessee to Betty Simpson Armstrong Chandler and Bob Armstrong. He graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis, TN. He worked for Jamison Pest Control, was a veteran Reservist of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and owner of AtLast Pest Management Inc. He was a member of the West Tennessee Pest Control Association.
His many hobbies included gardening, fishing, visiting the beach, reading, hosting Bible Studies, and spending time with his family. He was a University of Memphis Tiger fan as well as a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member at Renewal Church and had previously served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and minister at local churches.
His love for Jesus and teaching others about Jesus will be remembered by all who knew Steve. He had a way of making the Scriptures come to life and a deep desire for others to know Jesus. While he will be deeply missed (even his sarcastic humor) by his family and friends, especially those who knew him as “Pops”, his faith in Jesus gives great hope to them.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Chandler, step-father Houston Chandler, brothers Butch Armstrong and Jacky Chandler.
He is survived by his wife Lindy Chandler of Memphis, TN, son Stephen (Ella) of Memphis, TN, daughter Katherine (Matt) Morse of Franklin, KY; grandchildren Providence, Saffi, Will, Caleb, and Jack; father Bob (Judy) Armstrong of Bowling Green, KY; sisters Mickie (Mike) Cooper of Franklin, TN and Judy (Roy) Sampson of Woodburn, KY.
Funeral services for Steve will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024,at 11:00am in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Two hours prior to the service, starting at 9:00am, the family will receive friends for visitation. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the International Mission Board (IMB) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
