Robert "Rob" Jackson's Obituary
ROBERT WAYNE JACKSON, JR., of Memphis, died suddenly August 28, 2013 at his home. Rob was employed at the division headquarters of Kroger and was an accomplished musician. Rob was born in Memphis June 29, 1963 to Robert W. Jackson, Sr. and Linda Sermons Jackson. He was a lifelong resident of the city and a performer and supporter of Symphonic music. He began studying violin at the age of 5 and progressed to the viola. He began his college career at the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated from the University of Memphis in 1992. After playing with the Memphis Youth Orchestra, he became a regular in the area musical circles. During his career, he played with the Jackson, TN Symphony Orchestra, Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and Tupelo Symphony Orchestra. At the time of his death, he was a performer and equipment manager for the Germantown Symphony. Rob loved music, biking and cats. He especially enjoyed fishing with his Dad and playing jokes on his brothers. As an avid reader, he was especially knowledgeable about ancient history and comparative religion. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Linda Jackson of Boone, NC, his father Robert W. Jackson, Sr. and wife Jane of Shreveport, LA, brothers, Cary Jackson and wife Karisa of Houghton, LA and David Wells of Bosier City, LA. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Services for Robert W. Jackson, Jr. will be Monday, September 2, 2013 in the Memorial Park Chapel at 3 p.m. Prior to the service, the family will receive visitors at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests memorials be made to the Germantown Symphony Orchestra, P.O.
