I realize I’m very late in the condolences but I just ran across Richards’s obituary. I am also from Chattanooga and was his roommate in the Air Force at Fort Lee Va. I have many fond memories of his generosity and light hearted, easy-going attitude. Remembering him today.
Mary and Family: Sorry to learn of the death of Richard. We remember you when you led the puppet ministry at White Oak Baptist. I think that at least one of our sons, Larry and David, was in that ministry. When I left White Oak in 1984, I went to work at the Baptist Sunday School Board. Gerry was also working there at that time. In 1989 I began serving in Baptist Associations in Northern Virginia and “Lower Alabama”. Both of our sons settled in the Chattanooga area, so we moved back here in 2007 to help with the grandkids–we now have 10. We are now back at White Oak, but it has changed quite a bit since 1980. Rick was a friend I never knew personally. But by way of his sister, Patricia, my dear friend, I got acquainted with Rick and was deeply inspired by his courage and faith. I shall miss him and send condolences to Mary, Gerry and family and all Rick’s loved ones and friends who shall miss him, too. I am comforted in the knowledge he’s with his Father in his true home.
