Richard Patrick Lane III's Obituary
Richard Patrick (Pat) Lane Ill of Memphis, TN passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Не was born in Memphis on February 4, 1943 to Richard Patrick Lane, Jr and Sarah Victoria (Townsend) Lane. He graduated from Central High School and attended Christian Brothers University. Pat served in the US Army from 1967-1968 first in Germany and then in the Vietnam highlands working in communications details rising to the rank of Sergeant. He worked for 50 years as an engineer for WKNO TV and FM serving many of those years their chief engineer and transmitter engineer. He also worked for the University of Memphis Center for Earthquake Research and Information building and installing communications equipment. A lifelong enthusiast of amateur radio, Pat could be found as callsign W4OQG, with Army MARS as AAR4LL, and serving Army MARS as Central Region Emergency Director with callsign AAA9CE.
Pat was a member at the Highland Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy Ann (Lewis) Lane, his son and daughter-in-law John Patrick Lane and Christianne Lane of Hamilton, NJ; daughter Charlotte Ann Lane of Memphis, TN; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Samuel (Sammy) Lane.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park at 10am on Tuesday, March 11, followed by a graveside service at 11am. Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
