Rev. Richard L Hackleman's Obituary
Rev. Richard Lee Hackleman, 78, of Memphis passed away February 17, 2021.
Richard was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, but spent most of his life in Memphis. He graduated from both Central High School and Southwestern College (now Rhodes College). Following a successful career in sales, he felt the call to pursue a life in the ministry inspired by work he had done with The Singles Church in the 1990’s. He then attended Memphis Theological Seminary and became an ordained United Methodist Minister. He served on the Gates Circuit, as well as Atoka, Grand Junction, LaGrange and Holmes. He retired in 2006. Most recently he attended services at Trinity United Methodist Church, his family church growing up.
His parents Willard and Ann Hackleman preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Perrin (Todd), their sons Zach and Walker Perrin, son Martin Hackleman, sister Mary Ann Sturdivant, brother Bill Hackleman (Pam), 3 nieces and their children. He also leaves behind numerous friends and parishioners he ministered to over the years at the churches he served.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 19 at 3:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
