Rich was an awesome drummer and an even better person. It was truly a pleasure playing bass with him in a rock band jokingly called "The Seldom Herd" around the early 2000's. I absolutely loved his jazz chops and we locked in well together, sometimes swinging those rock songs a bit. Thanks for being my friend and bandmate.
My name is Dennis DeLucia. I grew up in Bergenfield, became good friends with Rich since we were both drummers in high school. He was one of the most talented drummers that I ever knew, and one of the brightest. We taught several drum corps together and played in the Hellcats at West Point at the same time [late sixties]. He was a wonderful friend who stayed in touch all these years, even though he had moved to Memphis. I am shocked at his passing, and want to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. I will miss him dearly.
