Phyllis Seavers' Obituary
Phyllis Seavers, 71, joyfully returned to the arms of her loving father on December 5, 2014. It was a sudden and unexpected passing for those she left behind, yet we are certain that Jesus had a glorious celebration prepared for her there.Born Phyllis Ann Siler to Josiah Woodson Siler and Hazel Frances Wiley Siler on August 14, 1943 in Hardeman County, TN, she was preceded in death by one beloved son, Anthony Joe Seavers. Phyllis is survived by her longtime partner and companion, Jim Leonard; the father of her children, Joe Seavers; one son, Brandon (Shelley) Seavers; two daughters, Melanie (Tim) James and Stephanie (Jon Paul) Seavers; one granddaughter, Rachel Nicole James; one grandson, Elijah Woodson Seavers; one great-granddaughter, Makenzi Grace Vasquez, and sister Jane Goodman. Born to humble beginnings in the farmhouse built by her father, Phyllis never failed to return to her roots as the basis for her compassionate, loving, and generous nature. She was accomplished at many things, including a long, fruitful career as a Realtor, a proud college graduate, and a dedicated social worker. Her greatest achievement, however, she believed to be her role as mother. Nothing gave Phyllis greater pleasure than raising her three adored children with a love for God and others, kindness, and a caring heart. She always beamed with delight when discussing her children and their accomplishments. In later years, though her health failed her, she continued to share her beautiful spirit, her infectious laughter & sense of humor, and her huge and open heart with everyone she met. Those who knew and loved her will remember her kindness, her zest for life, her ability to laugh (especially at herself,) and her unconditional, immense love for God, her children, and others. Her passing has dimmed the light a bit – she will be forever missed. Please join us Wednesday, December 10 at Memorial Park on Poplar Ave. for a Celebration of the Life of Phyllis. We’ll have a time of visitation from 5-6 p.m. followed by a service of memorial remembrance at 6 p.m.
