Paul H. Cockrill's Obituary
Paul H. Cockrill Jr. went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2016. Paul was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 7, 1940. He was a graduate of Messick High School and Memphis State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at night while working full time. Paul spent his professional life in sales. He served as President and Board Member of Sales and Marketing Executives of Memphis (1982 to 1990) and Vice President of the National Speakers Association. Paul was a devout Christian throughout his life. He was a proud member of Gideon’s International and very active with Truth Seekers Fellowship of Memphis. Paul did not confine his faith to denomination or church. He was involved in many prayer groups and Bible studies all over Memphis. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Cockrill Sr. and Dimps Ogan (Charles); his first wife, Donna Pugh Cockrill and his step-brother, Bill Ogan. He is survived by his wife, Irene Davis Cockrill; his children, Lucy Blackmon, Katie Cole (Clay) and Paul “Bud” Cockrill, III (Celeste); his step-children, Jennifer Volpitto (Greg), Amy Allen (Johnny), Archie Hamilton (Melissa) and Cliff Hamilton (Melissa) and his sisters, Jane Craddock, Harriet Rowland and Mary Cude. Paul adored and was immensely proud of his fifteen grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 15th from 10:30 until the service begins at 11:30 at First Evangelical Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Gideon’s International or Truth Seekers Fellowship “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
