Words can not express how saddened I am to hear about the death of Mr. Anderson. My thoughts and prayers are with Betty and all of his family. I truly loved this man, my friend and my teacher. I am able to make a living using the knowledge he passed to me some 30 years ago, I think of him often and try to teach what I know following his example. I have fond memories of our electronics class of 1980 to 1983 where we loving referred to him as “Uncle Andy” as he taught us electronics along with things like integrity and complicated things like how to clean up after ourselves and moping floors. He started the phrase “Beno Beer” when he took us on an outing and instructed us there would be no beer. His class was hard for me but he was always fair and fun. Uncle Andy was the man that had the most influence in my life. An incredible teacher. He earned and demanded respect. His life was an example of learning what you believe and then living what you believe. I have tried to do the same ever since I met him. I kept up with him after school where he continued to influence me. He was also the most compassionate man I have ever met. Mr Anderson was a great teacher and touched more lives than anyone I know. He told many stories, some happy and some sad, but always had an important lesson or wisdom to be learned. He was also a prankster. I remember he sent me down the hall to the auto mechanics shop for a “metric crescent wrench” and he emphasized “metric” – “make sure it’s metric!” Of course, the auto mechanics teacher was standing in front of the whole class as he asked me 3 times if I’m sure that’s what he asked for. So I leave that classroom in laughter only to return to my electronics class, also laughing. I knew from that day on that Mr Anderson is the boss with wisdom well beyond my years.
