Nathan A. Pera, III's Obituary
Nathan A Pera III born in Memphis on December 28, 1938 passed away on February 11, 2014 in Memphis. He is survived by Carroll Ann Pera, his wife of 51 years. A son Nathan A Pera IV and his wife Melissa. A daughter Kirah Theresa Ramage and her husband Frederick. Two grandsons, Nathan A Pera V and Walker Hudson Pera.He also leaves behind a brother Thomas Pera, sisters Mary Pera and Anna LaDart, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother Prudentia and Father Nathan Jr. Nathan attended Little Flower and Saint Michael’s. He graduated from CBHS and was named to All-Memphis Baseball. He then received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Christian Brothers University and attended the University of Memphis Graduate School of Engineering. He was member and past President of the CBHS Hall of Fame and member of the CBU Presidents Club. Nathan served in the United States Navy and became manager of the Chicago Bridge and Iron, Inc. research department in Chicago Illinois in 1962. He then became Chairman and Founder of Environmental Testing & Consulting, Inc. of Memphis in 1972. He was Chairman and owner of ETC of the Americas, Inc., past Chairman of the Board for the Associated Catholic Charities and past member of the Development Board of Catholic Diocese. He and his wife founded the Angel Food program for the Memphis Catholic Jubilee Schools and provided active support for the Urban Youth Initiative as well as support for a number of inner city ministries. Nathan was also an avid golfer. He authored several books that described his life experiences. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.Visitation will be held Monday, February 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Riverside Chapel from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. with services and burial immediately following. In Lieu of Flowers it is requested that memorials be sent to charities of choice.
