Nancy Harris Berry's Obituary
Nancy Harris Berry, 82, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2020. Born July 21, 1937 in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of Eleanor Stone Harris and Dewey Meredith Harris. Nancy graduated from Randolph Macon Women’s College in 1959, then married her beloved husband, Tom, August 8, 1959. Together, they built a life of love and laughter as they moved throughout the South while working and raising their four children.
A Ruling Elder and longtime member of Balmoral Presbyterian Church, she was a woman of faith and a servant leader. Nancy worked as a member of the staff of The Mid-South Food Bank in the early days of its formation. A beloved teacher and mentor for many children in her church and our city, Nancy served on numerous committees, participating in The School for Servant Leadership, Adopt -A-School, facilitating many small groups and volunteering countless hours. Nancy leaves a legacy of a life lived with joy in every day and every circumstance.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Louis Berry, and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Laura Berry, Meredith Berry Talley, Elizabeth (Bee) Berry Brister, and Philip Berry; grandsons Jack Talley, Will Talley, and Andy Brister; and great grandson Parker Talley. The family would like to thank Virginia Freeman of Senior Care Management Solutions for her service of love and devotion.
Interment will be held at a private family service on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Carla Meisterman will officiate. Due to the current social distancing restrictions, a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
