Mary J. Lackey's Obituary
Mary J. Lackey, age 68, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, April 29th, 2019 from Bulbar ALS. As the youngest of 12 children, “Babykins” as her siblings affectionately still call her, was born in Wabeno, Wisconsin on December 11th, 1950 and is survived by 6 siblings, her husband, daughter, son-in-law and four grandsons that she adored.Living in Fisherville, TN for over 43 years, she shared an active and happy life with her husband of 10 years, Bob Owens. A stickler for details and getting things done correctly & quickly, Mary was an excellent nurse who loved her patients and doctors. Warm sun, sand and waves were always calling her name. Frequently, she could be found stealing away to listen to her favorite live musicians and band.Even in death, Mary will continue the legacy of giving of herself. To further research into the horrible neurological disease of ALS, Mary donated DNA for genetic research purposes to Johns Hopkins Hospital and brain and spinal tissue to the University of Miami Brain Bank. Mary loved Jesus, life, family, friends, her church family & nursing.Kindness and generosity overflowed to everyone and her journey through life was with a joyful and merciful spirit. If you were fortunate enough to know her you loved her too.All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16 Soli Deo gloria! There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday, May 10th at 3:00 p.m. at Collierville United Methodist Church on the Square, 104 N. Rowlett Street in Collierville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS Association Tennessee Chapter: http://webtn.alsa.org/site/PageNavigator/TN_7_donate.html
