Mary L. Jones' Obituary
Mary Louise Zuber Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, died December 10 at the age of 59.
Devoted mother of April Calhoun and Amanda Toms (Chad), Mary was also the proud grandmother of Zoe, Greg, William, and Zach Calhoun, as well as Zadie, Karin, and Gabriella Toms. They were her treasures and she adored them. Mary is also survived by her two sisters; Linda Koroluk and Susan Hisky (Greg), along with nephews Joseph Koroluk and Hank Hisky; her aunts Beverly Lampkin and Dorothy Shaw; uncle John Brigham; and many cousins, all of whom she dearly loved. Mary also had a host of friends. Her kindness, easy smile, gift of gab, and infectious laughter gave her instant access to every heart. Once she knew you, she was your friend for life, as many of her decades long loyal friends will attest.
Formerly a member of Parkway Village Baptist Church, Mary was active in the youth group and choir, and often worked in the nursery with the babies she loved to hold. Currently a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, she again worked with the babies and toddlers. She loved to read to them, as she herself was an avid reader throughout her life.
Mary worked for over 30 years at the University of Memphis, as a graduation analyst for the College of Arts and Sciences. She touched so many lives there and guided innumerable students in completing their higher education requirements. She was incredibly hardworking, and a dedicated perfectionist in her job.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, William H. Zuber, Jr. and Laura Brigham Zuber, as well as her grandparents, Robert Lawrence and Marietta Brigham, William H. and Amanda Louise Zuber. She missed them so much, and we know, though she arrived earlier than any of us wanted or expected, they are all happily together again in heaven. Love and peace to you, our dear Mary.
Mary’s funeral will be held Thursday, December 17, at 1:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN.
Those who wish to honor Mary through charity are asked to please contribute to your local food bank in her memory.
