Mary Katherine Hume's Obituary
Mary Katherine Hume was born on November 30, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee, and passed away on May 4, 2026.
Mary Katherine dedicated 20 years of her life to the Pink Palace Museum, where she served as the manager of the museum gift shop. She had a deep love for history and reading, which led to a special interest in George Washington. Music was another passion of hers; she especially enjoyed listening to opera music and watching musical performances.
A talented musician, Mary Katherine played the piano and taught others to play. She found peace and comfort in nature, particularly in feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in her backyard. Birdwatching was a favorite pastime that brought her great relaxation.
She greatly loved and deeply missed her cat, Alice, who had been her constant companion for many years. While Mary Katherine had many hobbies and interests, nothing was more important to her than family. She especially cherished staying connected through long telephone conversations with family and friends.
She is survived by her four sons: Warren Hume of Eads, Tennessee; Mike Hume of Cordova, Tennessee; Kevin Hume of Cochran, Georgia; and Brian Hume of Memphis, Tennessee.
