I got to know Betsy from our mutual work at the Pink Palace, where we became friends. We enjoyed regular lunches out, concerts, movies and visits to art museums. She was a great mentor to the young people who worked for her in the museum store, always looking out for the interests. She loved talking about her work at the Taft in Cincinnati and Mt. Vernon. They fed her love for history. And she also loved sharing stories about her childhood growing up in South Memphis and her high school days at Messick. She always mentioned her gratitude for her son Brian and friend John who were her caregivers after she retired. She'll be missed by many.
