Martha Ragon Fields' Obituary
Martha Ragon Fields, 86, passed away on July 31, 2015. She was born September 3, 1928. She was preceded by her husband Sanford E. Fields (10/6/1923 – 6/19/2000) and her great grandson Silas Ragon Connelly (5/28/2014 – 5/30/2014). She is survived by her sons Dan and Marsue Johnson Fields and Brad and Karon Howerton Fields. Her grandchildren are Blake and Courtney Fields Connelly, Tyler and Meredith Fields Lawler, Daniel Fields, Jr., Daniel Fields, III, Andrew Fields, Rachel Fields, and Hannah Fields. Her great grandchildren are Elliot Connelly, Hank Lawler, Theo Lawler, and Vince Lawler. Her only living sibling is her sister Ouida Ragon Collier. Martha graduated with a degree in physical education from what is now University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church in Memphis, TN where she served faithfully in the choir, the Women’s Missionary Union, and as the head of the high school department. Her Christian faith remained constant throughout her life. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her gifts of service and hospitality always made her home warm and inviting. She left behind a legacy of love and devotion. A memorial service will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, August 8 at Second Baptist Church, 4680 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Silas Program Fund (a fund to support families of newborns with life-threatening illnesses).
