I was a member of Mrs. Bain’s oils class at Hutchison; several boys from MUS, I among them, would drive over to study studio art with her. I am grateful to Mrs. Bain for teaching me to see more fully, more clearly… to observe the subject and paint it honestly and well. What she taught me with paint and canvas has had gracious implications for my writing as well.
