Margaret Lane Stauber Heathcott Driscoll's Obituary
Lane Stauber Heathcott Driscoll was born on October 7, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Harvey Victor Stauber and Christine Harrell Stauber. She passed away on February 5, 2026.
Lane attended East High School and St. Mary’s Episcopal School, and graduated from Central High School, Class of 1962. She continued her education at Mississippi State College for Women and graduated from Mississippi University for Women (The W).
Lane spent much of her working life with FedEx, with two careers spanning 1977–2014. In the midst of those years, she also lived in Brussels, Belgium, where she taught English as a Foreign Language at French Place and The American School of Brussels.
She is survived by her son, Larry Heathcott; her sister, Anne Holmes; and her grandchildren, Jack Heathcott and Laura Lane Heathcott, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by Laura Lane Heathcott (daughter) and Harvey Victor Stauber (brother).
Lane was a fiercely devoted friend to many. Her friendships lasted over 70 years, and she maintained childhood friendships all the way up until her death. In describing Lane, her friends would say that she was a loyal confidant who was always available and comforting.
Lane’s faith was the steady thread that ran through her life. She was baptized at Grace-St. Luke’s Church in 1945, worshiped during her school years at Church of the Holy Communion, and returned to Grace-St. Luke’s in 1971, where she remained devoted for decades. She sang in church choirs from the age of 11 to 70 and gave her time to youth group, church camps, and youth projects. Grace St. Lukes was always a sacred place to Lane which is why a service to celebrate Lane’s life will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Grace St. Lukes Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
