Margaret Lafferty's Obituary
A wonderful woman of God, Margaret Lafferty 89 of Memphis, went into the arms of her maker four years and one day after her husband, Walter. Margaret passed away on December 22, 2019 in Columbia TN.
Margaret was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Virginia and John Lawrence on June 2, 1930. She married WL Hughen in 1951 after graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Music. She had four children Joel, Susan, Nancy and John Michael. She moved to Memphis and worked at Baptist Hospital as Chief of medical records and joined Bellevue Baptist as church pianist. Margaret married Walter Lafferty in 1972 and had son, Nathan. Margaret is preceded in death by daughters Susan and Nancy, and husband Walter. Margaret is survived by Joel and Cathy Hughen, John and Bridgett Hughen, Nathan and Kathy Lafferty.
Margaret was a gracious southern woman and an outstanding musician. She was the chief pianist at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee for 35 years. She served in the music ministry at Bellevue playing the piano at countless church services, weddings, and funerals over the years. She served the Lord faithfully with a willing spirit, exemplifying humility, grace and forgiveness.
