Mabel Kwok-Lin D'Amore's Obituary
In Memory Mabel Kwok-Lin D’Amore celebrated 78 years of gifted life and died peacefully on August 11, 2022. This mystery of death, an intermission in the realm of life, now allows her to re-join her parents: Cheong Shun Yao & Chu Shu Nge Yao in Heaven – a state of seeing God face-to-face. She also re-joins with her special brother Philip Yao (Stella). Mabel is survived by David, her husband of 47 years and first son Matthew (Gloria Nguyen) who have preciously blessed her with two grandchildren, Sophia & Ben and second son Mason and seven other siblings: Angelina Yam (Wilson), Brian Yau (Mary), Mimi Lam (John, deceased), Martin Yao (Yu-Ying), another Philip Yao, Benjamin Yao (Camelia), and Stephen Yao (Candy). Mabel’s family has further blessed God with 24 nieces and nephews.
Her prime passion was devotion in her Hope, Faith, and Love to the incarnate God: Jesus the Risen Christ, who is her Redeemer, Savior, and Friend. Her Joy approached completeness by being a dedicated mom, by discernment with friends in various people groups, and being delightful as God is when she interacts with fellow human beings without regard to possessions or status (Is 62:4-5). Her actions often reflected the WIT prayer: asking or allowing her Lord to act, work, and be With her, In her, and Through her. Perhaps unwittingly at times, God absorbed her multiple earthly sufferings and united them to her Lord’s suffering experiences (Col 1:24).
In honoring and praising the revelation that all creation is very good (Gen 1:31), Mabel enjoyed a wide array of international cuisines, appreciated gardens, flowers, and birds – especially humming. She loved music, songs, and her brief years in her church choir. Other privileges included travels to the key places of her home-born country – China (but raised in Hong Kong), and Japan, Toronto to meet one of her sisters, the art and majestic church views in Rome, Florence, and Assisi and a 2019 spiritual tour of Israel. Since making her new home in the U.S.A. in 1974 she has explored nearly the full scope of America the Beautiful: covering California, Grand Canyon and other Rocky Mountain states, Gulf coast, Mid-South, and Atlantic coast states, Smokey Mountains, New England states, and mighty rivers and several waterfalls.
Mabel can now enjoy the nourishing pastures by going in and out through the gate God has opened. Chapter 10 of John’s Gospel reveals that a Heavenly state, which has beginnings on earth, is not static. One of her favorite Sacred Scriptural passages is Psalm 23. Observe that the Heavenly state culminates with an ongoing wedding type banquet that supersedes our enemies and the final enemy, but defeated one, is Death. Let us begin the many tastes of victory as she sprinkles Heavenly petals and radiates spiritual blessings from the Communion of Saints united with our Triune God (Heb 12:1). May the many colors of her love bless us with new and frequent rainbows.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday August 20th at 3:00pm at Memorial Park Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave. A visitation will be held prior starting at 1:30. Inurnment will take place at Memory Hills Gardens 3700 N. Germantown Rd at a later date. The family suggests any memorials be sent to St Jude or Bellevue Baptist Church.
