Lois Nell Edwards' Obituary
Lois Nell Edwards, 87, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Southaven, MS. She began her elementary teaching career in Joy, TX. Later, after moving to Memphis, she continued her teaching career at Southaven Elementary School and Hope Sullivan Elementary of Southaven, retiring after 25 years. Her passion was teaching children to read and the importance of learning to read. As she believed that if one learned to read, they could learn anything. Mrs. Edwards was a longtime active member of Grace United Methodist Church of Whitehaven. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Elbert “Eddie” Edwards; children, Bill Edwards (Diane), Stanley Edwards, Miles Edwards (Keneen), Carol Walker, and Jean Priest (Mark); grandchildren, Shad, Gabriel, Jacob, and Jeremy Edwards, Heather and Andrew Edwards, and Steven and Justin Priest; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her only brother, Billy Frank Spitzer. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until her memorial service begins at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
