Linda Porter Eason's Obituary
Linda Lou Porter Eason, 94, passed away, peacefully at home, surrounded by family on April 27, 2026.
Linda was born in Newbern, Tennessee, the younger of two sisters born to Mamie Catherine Teague Porter and Robert Lipscomb Porter.
Linda’s carefree beginnings consisted of birthday parties with friends, piano lessons taught by her mother, grammar school and high school, where childhood friends became lifelong friends. Linda moved to Memphis to attend the University of Tennessee School of Nursing. She was President of her class before graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She worked for two years as a Public Health Nurse, walking her district and caring for patients in their home.
It was at church where Linda met her future husband, Leslie Eason, a UT medical student. While their first date was January 13, 1951, they held off marriage until Leslie graduated. They married at First Methodist Church on April 14, 1956. Leslie’s duties as a flight surgeon in the Air Force took the young couple to Alamogordo, New Mexico, where their family began with the birth of their first two children, Lee Anne and Lynne. They moved to Paris, Tennessee, where Leslie did General Practice. Leslie Jr was born before they all moved to Memphis, where their fourth child, Landon was born.
Linda was steadfast in the Lord and His word from her birth until her death. She was baptized and married in the Methodist church, attended Second Presbyterian Church and Central Church, where she worshipped, studied and participated.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of what would have been seventy years of marriage this year, Leslie Edmund Eason MD, and her daughter, Lynne Ellen Eason Canestrari.
Linda is survived by her sister, Janey Porter Milam, daughter, Lee Anne Eason, sons; Leslie Edmund Eason Jr. (Christy Ingram Eason) and Landon Porter Eason (Amy Long Eason). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Angela Canestrari Moore (Andrew), James Paul Canestrari, Christian Taylor Eason, Tristen Charles Eason, Halleli Eason Betancourt (Jose’), and Nikki Eason Rogers (Stephen). She is also survived by her beloved pets, Lucas, Liam and Kelly and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
