Lila Phillips Gould's Obituary
Lila Phillips Gould, 85, of Memphis, passed away Jan 14. She was born and raised in Memphis. She married the late Sam Gould in 1951; they were married for 43 years until his death in 1994. Mrs. Gould was the owner, with her husband, of Gould’s Salons and Spa, founded in 1932 by Sam Gould. This family-owned business has been in existence for 81 years with 11 locations in the Memphis area. Mrs. Gould was a charter member of the Ladies of St. Jude and part of the groundbreaking for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was a member of the Nineteenth Century Club, Laurelwood Garden Club and Grace Evangelical Church. She loved family, friends, and music. Mrs. Gould leaves four children: Gigi Gould of Germantown, TN; Philip Gould (Debbie) of Germantown, TN; David Gould (Jan) of Collierville, TN; and Gaye Greer (Alan) of Germantown, TN. She also leaves nine grandchildren: Heather Hengen Hendry (Allen) of Memphis, TN; Louis Hengen (Jill Keller) of Washington, DC; Paul Gould (Angie) of Germantown, TN; Sean Gould of Memphis, TN; Samantha Gould of NY, NY; Lynley Greer (Mitch Goddard) of Germantown, TN; Casey Greer of Germantown, TN; Alex Gould of Collierville, TN; and Kaylee Gould of Collierville, TN, and one great-grandchild, Maryn Gould of Germantown, TN. The family would especially like to thank Mrs.Gould’s caretakers: Dorothy Nevills, Dorothy Wilson, and Carolyn Tate. Visitation is Wednesday, January 16, 5-7 pm, Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 17, 10:00 am, Grace Evangelical Church with graveside service at Ellendale Cemetery in Bartlett.
