Laura Baker Blalack's Obituary
Laura Frances Baker Blalack, 86, passed away March 7 while a resident at Kindred Healthcare and Rehabilitative Center. Laura was born Sept 23, 1926 in Dallas, TX, to Harold V Baker and Frances Pearce Baker. She attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Southern Methodist University where she was a Mortar Board member, Campus Beauty, and President of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. After a career with Neiman Marcus in the Personnel Dept, she married Thomas Anvil “Andy” Blalack in 1949. They were married for 54 loving years. She is survived by two daughters Debbie Blalack Donahoo (Duane) of Knoxville,TN, Janet Blalack Callicott (Bill) of Collierville, TN and two sons, Thomas Gary Blalack (Kathy) of Franklin,TN and Alan R. Blalack (Robin) of Charles Town, WV, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Laura had a genuine kindness of heart expressed in her beautiful smile and caring for others. She was known for her quick wit and resiliently positive attitude and view of life. She gave a half century of loving service and leadership to Madonna Circle and Madonna Day School (now Madonna Learning Center), Duration Club and DurArts, St. Agnes Academy, CBHS and St. Louis Catholic Church where she was a parishioner for over 55 years. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a Rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is being celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, March 11, at St. Louis Catholic Church with entombment following at Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be sent to Madonna Learning Center.
