Kelly Patrick McHugh's Obituary
Kelly Patrick McHugh, 46, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on May 30, 2026.
Born on November 28, 1979, in Jackson, Tennessee, Kelly was the eldest son of Pat and Beth McHugh. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1998, earned a Baccalaureate degree from the University of Memphis in 2003, and later received his MBA from Union University in 2008.
Above all else, Kelly was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone around him feel valued, loved, and important. Whether you had known him for decades or had just met him, Kelly had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room.
Kelly is survived by his parents, Patrick Anthony McHugh III and Carolyn Beth McHugh; his brother, Kevin McHugh; his sisters, Julie (Jay) Estes and Cara (Eric) Geissler; his children, Nicole (Brandon) Sumpter, Rebecca McHugh, Barrett McHugh, Bella McHugh, and Blaine McHugh; his granddaughter, Brielle Sumpter; his uncle, L.C. (Roz) Brantley III; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Kelly was preceded in death by his mother’s parents, L.C. and Julia Brantley; and his father’s parents, Patrick and Margaret McHugh.
Kelly’s greatest joy in life was loving his family. For his entire life, he could make ordinary things, such as cooking a casserole or telling a story, feel like pure magic, and he made everything more fun simply by being a part of it. Kelly was the most nonjudgmental person, always willing to lend an ear and somehow able to make you laugh through even the most painful conversations. Kelly loved reading, visiting local coffee shops, and Saturdays spent watching Ole Miss football with his dad and sons.
Kelly leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and children he could not have been more proud of. He loved his family deeply, and we will hold tightly to that love and the many memories he gave us until we meet again.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, Tennessee, with a Funeral Mass immediately following. The burial will take place afterward at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an education fund established for Kelly's youngest children. Contributions may be made here
