Dear Fran,We just learned of Joe’s death. Bob reflected on the many Bartkiewicz family events at their grandparents house on West 50th Street in Cleveland. He also remembered attending your wedding. The last time we saw the both of you was at Uncle Eddie and Aunt Helen’s 50th Anniversary, and I know Bob enjoyed spending some time talking to Joe there. Dear Fran, one of the dearest blessings of my life was to meet you at Faith Bible Chapel in Avon Lake. Our friendship turned into a friendship for our husbands too. Joe always seemed larger than life. His life expiriences and sense of humor combined into some great stories. His telling of his bus ride in Columbia was hilarious. I could almost see the bus crashing red lights, careening around corners, multiple near misses and everybody on board trying to make their peace with God! That was only one of many interesting tales. Bill and I have been so sorry to hear of the many health issues Joe had to endure over the past two years. It hasn’t been easy for either of you and your children. We are praying for you all, especially for your health, your need for rest and for peace. Looking forward to the memorial in Clevend and for any way we can serve you then. Love, Bill and Cathy

I have so many fond memories of Joe — times when our Life Group would visit the house and how warm and welcoming he always was. I remember the handcrafted decorations that were on the mantel. And he had so many interesting stories to share. I also remember his generosity when people were in need — I see that reflected even in the actions of his grandchildren. What a legacy!

Dear Fran, Mike, Dave, Barb, Stephanie, and Josh. Our sincere condolences in the loss of your beloved husband, father, and grandfather. i know how close you all were. Our prayers are with you that God will comfort you in your loss.Fran I remember when you and Joe came all the way to Houston for our son’s wedding. We had such a good time. Joe had a great sense of humor. And I remember how we laughed in the hotel hallway when the maid looked at us like we had been drinking (and none of us had a drop)—we were just enjoying laughter and seeing old friends. Joe is “The Sign Man.” The next time you see a street sign in Davies Plantation, think of Joe. When I think of the challenges and the final joys of success when each sign had been firmly set, Joe and his compatriots felt they were adding to the beauty of their neighborhood.
