I had become acquainted with John a short 6 years ago after purchasing a condo at the beach (Mistral) right next door. He asked if during the wedding for his daughter if another family member could rent our unit. This was our 1st interaction, we hit it off immediately, and shortly after we’d become friends. We served on the BOD together for a couple years, it was at this point I realized how smart he was with regards to all the legal aspects of condo associations, as well as other topics. We spent many an hour on the phone discussing these details, and finally got meet in person. I had joked about having a beer ready for me after the long drive to the beach, but he actually did!We saw things very similarly and understood each other fairly well. In the process we had many laughs in the short time we knew each other, I only wish there could have been more in the years to come. But God has a plan, we don’t always understand why but have to have faith in him. I will truly miss John and our interactions, he was a true friend. My condolences to Cathy and the rest of the family.

I have so many wonderful memories of Johnny and his wonderful family. We lived next door to them on Overlook Drive/Sweeten Creek in Montgomery. We played until the street lights came on! I know he will be missed! Prayers for all of his loved ones!
John’s mom forever impacted me – she taught me the piano ??
John was a very good man. His family was blessed to have him. He was the smartest person I’ve ever been friends with. He had a heart as big as his brain and talent. He never met a person he didn’t want to help. He never wanted big titles or self recognition , but because of who he was it just naturally was the way it was. He saw his self as a simple person who wanted to be and was a great family man a great friend and a great musician. We were all a better person because he was our friend. When he made friends it was a friend forever. From your friend Debra Barnes Burrow .
My brother has been a friend of John’s for many many years. They worked together at MLGW and played in bands together. My heart breaks for his family and I pray GOD will let them fill his love and strength during this time of mourning.Shirley Sappington
