Joe walked into my office in 1991 and ask if I would like to move over to a buying job. I worked for Joe as the sporting good buyer for 3 years. That was when Fred’s had a full category sporting goods. Remained a buyer for 25 years. I am convinced he gave me the greatest opportunity anyone could have. Thank you Joe.
Joe was my buyer at Fred’s / Baddour early in my career as a National Account Manager for Union Carbide/ First Brands. We quickly became friends. I have great memories of Joe. When I first started calling on him I was young and I guess a little naive. I would take Joe and manager to dinners/shows in Chicago during the APAA show each year. He kind of trained me how to take care of good customers. He had a good heart - a great person! I will never forget him.
I was a buyer when Joe was a VP of Fred’s. I remember when Kathy was sick and in the hospital Joe would work all day and stay with her at night. He loved her so. A sweetheart of a man. He impacted many. Hail State !

I graduated high school with Kathy and Joe. I was a close friend to both of them. I am praying for the family. Both were loved by all.
