David was one of my very best friends at Holiday Inn in 1987-88. He was an intern at the time. I got pregnant Valentines weekend with a programmer at Holiday Inns that I was engaged to. One day David was at my desk and we were trying to come up with names for my son. David came up with Cory Bob and my son was born with the name Cory Robert Elder. He is a bassist with the band Memphis May Fire. I tried to tell this story at his wedding to his wife but not sure she understood. His college was down the road from my home town. What a fabulous man David was! I cherished him and think of him often.

David Ligon, There are no words to express the loss of my learning of Davis’s passing. David was in my department at the Holiday Inns /Promus/Harrah’s Entertainment during the 1980s and 1990’s on Cherry Road. He was such a pleasure to see his growth in responsibilities over the years. Early on, his technical expertise was so helpful. It seems everyone loved and admired David. Yes, he was not shy to bring his strong opinions to the table but was open to suggestions for change. I truly trusted David. At my retirement party, Davis was the first offer his thoughts/roasting of me.The last time Patricia and I saw David was when he drove to Longboat Key, Florida to attend our wedding April 1st, 2000. We occasionally interchanged over Facebook so we were able to keep up with his activities. David, you are a very important person in my life.Neil

David gave me my start in Compensation. He took a chance on me all those years ago. I will never forget that and will always be grateful. He was a great mentor and good man. Whenever I would see him at work related seminars, he would always greet me with a hug and was genuinely interested in how I was doing. He had so many passions but talking about his family and children was one of his favorite topics. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this sad time.

David, I will always remember the last Skype conversation we had… you spoke about how much you loved your wife and family, and shared a write-up about the Hilton DNA and power of what Hilton stood for, and how the Conrad Hilton’s legacy moved you to tears. I did read what you sent – and will always remember those moving moments you created for me. You will always be in my memory and will be dearly missed in the Hilton Compensation team and HR family.
