Jo Jackson's Obituary
Mary Jo Boston Jackson was the daughter of Dr. W. A. Boston and Mary Jane Plummer Boston. She was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on August 1, 1932 and went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2018. She grew up in Oklahoma and Union City, Tennessee. She has made her home in Memphis, Tennessee for over 65 years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oklahoma Baptist University with a B.A in Music Education and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity.She was married to her beloved husband James William Jackson for 50 years. Her greatest joys were her children, Mary Liane Jackson Rawls, Walter William Jackson, and John Arving Jackson.Jo has blessed thousands of children through her teaching of academics, Bible, music, and musical productions. She taught at East High School, Trinity Baptist Elementary Christian School, Northpoint Elementary (SBEC).She also served as a musician at First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh Baptist Church, Graceland Baptist Church, Broadway Baptist Church, First Evangelical Church and was the organist at Bellevue Baptist Church at the time of her death.She was preceded in death by her husband James Jackson, her parents Dr. W.A. and Jane Boston and her brothers Jim Boston and Raymond Boston.She is survived by her brothers, David Boston and Ned Boston, children, Liane Jackson- Rawls, (Ted Rawls), Dr. Walter Jackson (Pam Jackson) and Dr. John Jackson.She is also survived by her grand children: Kate Rawls, Lauren Jackson, Emily Rawls Dunaway (Chris Dunaway), Sarah Jackson Stanley (Tyler Stanley), Cooper Rawls, Rebekah Jackson, Kelly Rawls, Austin Jackson, (Leslie Jackson), Hannah Jackson, Leah Jackson, great grandchild: Emmett James Dunawa.The family will receive friends at Bellevue Baptist Church 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, TN on Friday, September 21 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow immediately at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119 “Celebrating Life…Behind the Stone Wall”
