Jere Alexander Nichols' Obituary
Jere Alexander Nichols, 92, of Memphis, TN passed away at home on June 16, 2022. He was born on October 19, 1929 in Montgomery, Alabama to Chris Woodie Nichols and Christine Wetzel Trevarthen.
Mr. Nichols was a graduate from Memphis State University, having obtained his BS degree and was a charter member of Tennessee Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. After College he became a member of the U.S. Airforce, serving from 1951 to 1953 and later began working for The American Red Cross. He served with The American Red Cross for 40 years before his retirement, having served in the United States, Germany and Morocco. Mr. Nichols also made two trips to Cuba on the Bay of Pigs, prisoner swap and met Fidel Castro.
He leaves his niece, Debbie Jacobs, her son Sean, great nephew, Vincent Heffron and great niece Michelle Heffron. Finally, last but never least he leaves his great great niece "the daughter he never had" as he would always say, Alexandria Heffron Yopp.
Mr. Nichols final wish is to thank all the people that have known him and involved in making his life so successful.
