Jean, Mom, Mamaw, and Mrs. Balding were the names to which she responded. A daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a teacher, and a friend. Jean performed all of these roles well. One cannot have such a list of life roles such as this without leaving much behind. She leaves children, grand children, great grand children, ten all total and almost 1,000 students who today are well into their 40’s and 50’s with their own children and grandchildren. She was a popular teacher, sought after by parents. She made a career out of teaching six year olds. She laid the foundation for the rest of their education. Jean was never satisfied with the knowledge she had, always thirsting for more. She never accepted “I don’t know” as an answer, for there is much to learn. And now this remains; that the faith, hope and love of one, can impact many, and the lives of many will continue on a little better because of what one has done for them. If there is anything we can do in response to the life of one such as Jean, it is to go and do what has been asked of us; and that is to act justly, love with mercy and walk humbly as we go throughout the rest of our life. Times such as this brings perspective to what it is all about, does it not. Why are we here, and what are we going to do about it? Jean’s time for doing on this earth has come to an end, but for the rest of us we all have many roles to fill and we touch the lived of those around us.
Sincere condolences in the loss of a great woman, mother and Mamaw. Her trips to Mark and Joan’s in Massachusetts will always be remembered. Her new life now begins. God bless!Barbara Fitzpatrick
Our heartfelt condolences to the Balding family. Words cannot express the pain we feel when we lose our dear loved ones. Our prayer is that you may find comfort through God’s Word, the Bible. Isaiah 25:8 tells us: “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” May you be strengthened and comforted during this time of loss.
