Jason Young's Obituary
Jason Brian Young, 54, passed away at Germantown Methodist Hospital on February 3, 2026, surrounded by family and dear friends. He was a lifelong Memphian, born March 1, 1971, the youngest son of William Gene “Bill” Young and Barbara McWilliams Young.
Jason was a strong quiet man who loved his family fiercely. While he was a man of few words, those close to him got to know and enjoy his sweet and silly side. He loved telling a good joke, the tackier the better. Jason was loving, loyal, open minded and a friend to all.
Jason worked hard as a commercial landscape contractor. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, beach time, traveling, drinking good craft beer, often at a local brewery, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jason married his wife Melissa at age 21. They were married for 32 years and together they raised three wonderful children who made him proud, Kathryn, Carolyne and Jacob.
Jason was predeceased by his father, Bill Young, and his brothers, Michael Young and Matt Young. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Barbara Young; wife, Melissa Young; his children, Kathryn Young (fiancé, Aaron Timm), Carolyne Young Kenner (spouse, Alex Kenner), and Jacob Young; and his granddaughter, Eleanor Jean Kenner, for whom he was her beloved Paps.
A celebration of Jason’s life will take place on March 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., located at Ghost River Brewery (827 South Main, Memphis, TN 38106).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests your donation to the American Cancer Society.
Jason’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
