Dr. Whitaker was a very kind-hearted, hard-working, student loving teacher who would always do his best to teach the kids and help them where he could. I just found out which is why this is late. I worked with Dr. Whitaker and he was my mentor in the science department at Hamilton High. I worked with him for 11 years. He taught me the chemistry labs that I use today in my current teaching assignment, which is near where he last worked. I had started to write an email to him at the beginning of this school year but never finished it, as I wanted to work with him on some AP Chemistry labs. I always thought that he would be there and I wish I had finished that correspondence. I knew his mannerisms and his meticulousness. He worked long hours and went out of his way to help the school in a variety of activities, whether for graduation, the science club, or anything that he wanted to help with. He would even do make-up labs after school for absent students which I have rarely heard of. He taught me a lot and I will never forget his devotion to students and to his belief in God. I am sure Dr. Whitaker is teaching some hands-on science somewhere in Heaven now.
