Uncle Jim was quite the character with a lot of passions in life. He was a wonderful Chef, an amateur Botanist, serious Taphophile, bird watcher, music enthusiast, photographer, wine connoisseur, art buff, historian, family genealogist and a man of science (among other things I'm sure I have left out). He knew how to really appreciate the finer things in life as well as the simple pleasures of watching a sunset and all things in nature. He was a dignified man who left us too soon. I looked up to Jim and wish we had more time with him.
I have lots of great memories of Jim. He was always the life of the party... playing cards at Jim and Paula's and me and Jim would get in trouble because Tom and Paula took their card playing serious and me and Jim would get tipsy and act up, the beach in Alabama and him shucking all those fresh oysters and mixing the best batch of Bloody Mary's to go with them, fishing at that cabin that one Easter and trying to train the crow that kept coming down for Cheetos, the graveyard at Lone Jack where he walked and walked until he found that tomb stone that read "I told you I was sick" so he could show us all... so many more.
The world is a better place because you were in it. Tom and I are better people for knowing you. You will be missed sir.
Love you Uncle Jim!
