James "Dud" Curry's Obituary
James Dudley (“Dud”) Curry, 89, of Germantown passed away at home on November 30, 2014. He was born September 19, 1925. He is survived by Virginia Ann Curry, his loving wife of 64 years, daughter; Patricia Curry Simmons (Sam) of Frisco, Texas, and son William Reily Curry of Memphis. He is also survived by brother, John (Mary) of Memphis. A graduate of Central High School and Memphis State University, Dud was a retired real estate appraiser for Leader Federal Savings & Loan and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. As part of the Sixth Marine Division, he fought with heroism during the assault and capture of Okinawa in 1945. Dud was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis. He invested in the lives of numerous young people through his work with Boy Scouts, Memphis Blues Brass Band, and other community organizations. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. All services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home.The family wishes to thank the staff of Crossroads Hospice for the extraordinary care they provided during Dud’s extended illness.
