I had sent a card to Mrs Curry, “Uncle Dud” helped us in many ways while we were at Memphis Boys Town, I will never forget him as a scout master, leader, just a great person. We had troop 224, camped at a lot of places thanks to Dud, as well the family farm in Myrtle Ms. He would take us to the local drag strip all of this was back in the 1960’s. Mrs Curry, Patricia, William, John: I was sorry to learn of Mr Curry’s passing. I lived at Memphis Boys Town on Summer Avenue in the 1960s. “Uncle Dud” was our scoutmaster and was the impetus behind our annual Christmas Tree sale. He took us on several Boy Scout camping trips including one to Pensacola, FL that was a childhood highlight. Uncle Dud wouldn’t know me from Adam; but I can guarantee all of the boys he befriended at Boys Town will never forget him. Dud was my father’s best friend in high school, college, and after. Dud was in my parent’s wedding over 65 years ago and meant so much to both my father, Charles Dando, and my mother, Barbara Sue Dando. Daddy died in September of this year, otherwise he would be at the visitation and funeral. Instead, I’m sure he was there to welcome Dud to heaven. Mother is quite ill and homebound, so she won’t be able to e at Dud’s service either. Our family’s thoughts and prayers go out to your family.Cindy Dando
