Howard Benard Bickers' Obituary
Howard Benard Bickers Jr. Having completed his service for the Lord, God has graciously and lovingly taken him home. Dr. Howard Benard Bickers Jr., known to many as Dad, Bud, or Bwana, passed away in his home on Sunday, August 18, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. In his life, he served God as a pastor, as a missionary to Malawi, Africa, and as Professor of Missions and Church History at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He is survived by his five children, Catherine Cunningham, Cynthia Collins, Sharon Ballin, Linda Guenther, and David Bickers. He has fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, with two more on the way. Although he will be greatly missed, his family recognizes God’s mercy and imagines the moment when he finally met Jesus face to face. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to the mission organization of your choice.
