This man was more than my Grandfather. He was my Best friend and the man that showed me how to live my salvation and be a christ like example as he was the best at using his actions to let people know who he served. He loved his wife and children so much. He took my sister and I in when we had no where to go. He became our Dad and even more than that. His piercing blue eyes and strong but silent nature was amazing. how a man can be so tough while not saying a word but when he spoke it was with nothing but love. I will miss him dearly but know what he taught/instilled in me. I am blessedly assured to see him again in God’s kingdom. The only reason I know Jesus is because of my grandfather. What a glorious day that will be to hug my savior and will be able to worship him alongside my grandfather. I Love you Pops and I’ll make you proud, I promise. So sorry to hear about the passing of my Uncle Hank. In my eyes, I always thought of him as an American Hero. I will never forget when he took me and my brothers into the cockpit of a B-52 flight simulator. At the age of 12, it left quite an impression on me. Today, I am celebrating his life as a Christian, a Gentleman, a “man’s man”, and person of high integrity. We didn’t get to see him very often but he will be missed. Our prayers are with my Aunt Peggy and all of my Cousins as they share the special memories of their time with him. On behalf of the Leonard brothers, we thank God for the life of Uncle Hank. Hank was our Sunday School teacher for many years. My husband Dan died a year ago and now they will be classmates again. They will be able to talk face to face with Jesus. I will miss Hank so very much. – Jean Bowden
There are so many memories, but the times that meant the most were when he was at church. I would watch him along with mother in the choir, or if he was sitting next to me, you could hear him sing the mens part to I Surrender All..watching with overwhelming pride as he carried out his duties as a deacon. Daddy always had time for me and my brothers and sister when he didn’t have to fly. But most of all, the love he showed my mother was only something we can dream about for ourselves. Theirs was a love story…those gentle blue eyes will never be forgotten!
Hank was one of the good guys that I always enjoyed being around with. I had the pleasure to work with him in the Flight Training Department for many years. Hank was more than a true professional pilot and friend. I thank God that he came to know Christ many years ago and I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. Although we lost someone special, Christ gained someone special. We who knew Hank will miss him but never will we forget him.Hobert Welch
