Hazel Alberta Davis' Obituary
Hazel Alberta Davis, 102, of Memphis Tennessee passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2025.
Hazel was born to the late Walthall and Janie Wright on January 15, 1923, in Charleston Mississippi. Along with her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Robert Davis; her sisters Josie Clark and Robbie Sawyer; her brother Edward Wright.
Hazel is survived by her daughter Hazel "Sissy" Goheen; her sons Robert Davis Jr. (Linda), Joffrey Davis(Pam) and Billy Davis; grandchildren David, Patrica(Anthony), Michelle(Justin), Michael(Tabitha); her seven great grandchildren Madison, Kaylee, Makayla, Adelynn, Alivia, Elliana, Ayden; nieces and nephews.
Hazel grew up on her family farm in Charleston Mississippi. She would get out of school three weeks each Fall to help the family pick cotton. Her family finally received electricity at their home when Hazel was eighteen years old. She graduated from Paynes school in 1943. In January 1944, she moved to Memphis where she worked at Silver's Department Store and later worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. During her brief time at Firestone, she worked building rafts for the soldiers in World War II. Hazel met her husband Robert Davis at Bellevue Mission. They were married on December 15, 1956, at Bellevue Baptist church by R. G. Lee. She was a stay-at-home mom who loved quilting, gardening, spending time with her family and reading her Bible.
Hazel was a faithful Christian. She was a member of Hollywood Baptist church for several decades where she worked in the nursery and other areas of the church. She has been a member of Providence Baptist church, (formerly Hollywood Baptist church) since its beginning over two decades ago.

The family invites friends to gather Monday August 4, 2025, for visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with funeral services on Tuesday August 5, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119
