Harold always encouraged me to keep pursuing my flight ratings. I do not think I would be a CFI today if he had not stayed on my butt. He was really helpful to the Wooddale Aviation program. The people from Douglas Aviation, with Harold leading the way, went out of their way to help out whatever way they could. Harold was always cheerful and helpful. He will be missed. God Bless him and his family.Jeff Holmes Wooddale High School

Harold was such a big part of my life. I met him when I was 14 and he made me believe that anything was possible. He provided so many opportunities for us in Explorer Post 924. He guided us, inspired us, and believed in us. I was so unbelievably lucky to have been caught under his wing. Ever since I left the group I have yet to see another example of mentoring like his. He is leaving big shoes to fill and I intend to. He will continue to be a big inspiration in my life. He is a true hero to many of us who’s careers launched because of him.
Harold always made me feel important. He would greet me and recall the last subject we had discussed, usually aviation related. His good spirits and deep faith lifted and deepened my own. I learned some valuable lessons from him and will miss him in this world, commending him to God with great thanks. John Welborn
I have many fond aviation and personal memories of Harold. He was a fine man, aviator, and friend. We are blessed to have known him. Teach those angels how to make good wheel landings!Bill Krieger
Harold was one of those unflappable individuals that was oh-so-generous and thoughtful.I laugh when I think about his Pavlovian reaction…in that…every time he saw me, he’d always bring me some ragged out, virus infested computer to fix. I’d just tell him, “Harold, spend some cash and buy a new computer”. I don’t think he ever did…and somewhere, at that Olive Branch Airport…I’m sure I’ll stumble over one of those PC’s of his eventually. My heart is heavy at this loss.God Bless You, Harold! Happy Flying!!Jon and Mary Bonds Senatobia, MS

I’ve always admired Harold for his keen eye with a camera, passion for flying, and wonderful wit (he loves to tease)!. Bill and I will miss a fine, kind man at Joyce’s side. Sue and Bill Painter
